Mrs. Wood was born in Rich Square, N.C., a daughter of the late William S. and Elizabeth ''Bessie'' Rhone Hall. She was a resident of Florence, S.C. but lived most of her life in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. She was a retired civil service employee for the U.S. Navy having worked 25 years at the local Naval installations as a librarian.
She is survived by her husband of Florence, S.C.; a son, Charles A. (Myrna) Brooks of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Linda B. (J.B.) Gulledge of Florence; a brother, Frank Hall of Moyock, N.C.; a sister, Virginia Capps of Norfolk; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
