ALGER - The return trip to their home in Oxen Hill, Md., after a week's visit with relatives in the local area, ended in tragedy for a newly-married couple, Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Van Scoy, when the husband lost control of the auto in which they were riding crashed into a ditch on the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Bedford, Pa., Saturday.
The accident took the life of Mrs. Van Scoy, 20. She died 3:30 p.m. in Conner General Hospital, Bedford, an hour after the mishap. Her death was attributed to multiple fractures. Her husband was not injured seriously.
The couple was married here July 27, 1968.
Mrs. Van Scoy was born May 29, 1948 in Allen County, the daughter of Theodore and Lucille Greenland Shadley. They survive with her husband and a brother, John, at the family home; paternal grandfather, Carl Shadley of Rt. 1, and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Merl Greenland of Lima.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Hanson Funeral Home, Rev. Willard Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Preston Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 tonight.
