Alta Woolsey was born 1868, in Benton County, Arkansas, a daughter of James Taliaferro Woolsey & Nancy R. WOODS Woolsey.

Benton Co., Democrat; Bentonville, Ark.; 7 May 1914: "Nancy R. WOODS Woolsey, died 24 June 1914, at her residence Bentonville, Ark. Nancy was dau. of Dysart & Margaret WOODS, who were among the early Settlers of Benton Co., Ark. Nancy Woods was born in Carroll Co., Tenn. 15 March 1830. She came with her parents to the WOODS home 2 miles east of Bentonville, 76 yrs. ago (1838) & for 76 yrs her home was never more than 2 miles away from her happy childhood home. On 3 Dec. 1850, Nancy Woods md. James Woolsey; 11 children: (7 sons & 4 dau.) were born to the couple. Of these, J. P. Woolsey of Oklahoma City; W. T. Woolsey of Salt Lake City; (D.) H. Woolsey of Canon, Colorado; Mrs. Ella Putman of Pubelo, Colorado; Mrs. Samuel Shelton; Albert Woolsey; & Miss (Sadie) Woolsey of Bentonville, Ark. survive her. May Holy Spirit comfort...especially Miss (Sadie) for care of her Mother."
