He was mustered into service as a Sergeant on August 2nd 1861 at the Schuylkill Arsenal in Philadelphia. Mustered out with the Company on September 8th 1864. He reenlisted and was promoted to Lt of the 82nd PA Volunteers. He was mustered out on July 13th 1865. He died on June 17th 1889 and was buried at Saint Davids Protestant Episcopal Churchyard in Manayunk, PA.
