Carolyn Johnson, 94, Atlanta, died Wednesday at the Tipton County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born Dec. 1, 1910, at the home of her parents near Aroma, she was the daughter of H. E. and Viola (Leeman) Haworth. She graduated in 1928 from Walnut Grove High School. She married Gerald W. Johnson Aug., 10, 1934. She was a homemaker and farmwife all her life. She was a faithful member of the Aroma United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Colonists, the Literati Study Club, the Heartland Patchworkers Quilt Guild and the Hamilton County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Indiana Historical Society, Tri Kappa Sorority and the United Methodist Women.
Survivors include two sons, James L. Johnson of College Station, Texas and Timothy J. and wife, Kristin Johnson of Atlanta; three grandchildren, Jill and husband Sam Allen of Clayton, N.C., Jay and wife, Melinda Johnson of Monticello, Ill. and Jennifer and husband, Rob Matthews of New Castle, Colo.; and eight grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald W. Johnson, who died June 21, 1973; a brother, Basil Haworth and a sister, Lou Miller.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, at the Aroma United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Elsten officiating. Burial will take place in the Aroma Cemetery. Friends may call from 1- 6 p.m Sunday at Copher-Fesler-may Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Aroma United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
