His most recognized fictional character was Heriberto De La Calle, a shoeshiner who inverviewed politcians and personalities using his usual satire. He had a role in the peace negotiations with the FARC guerrilla group. He was shot to death by right-wing paramilitaries on his way to Radionet station in Bogota, Colombia.
