Judge William Bigby Keene was the first judge of the 1969 Tate-LaBianca murder trial (Charles Manson) in Los Angeles. Judge Keene, in that case, eventually acquiesced to a pre-trial challenge by Manson, resulting in the case being moved into the courtroom of Judge Charles Older.
Judge William Bigby Keene was also famous for garnering national recognition in portraying the judge on television's "Divorce Court" for seven years (from 1985 to 1992), a fact-based courtroom program that is the basis for the many, many, "Judge Judy" type shows seen on TV today.
