Jane Ludwig, youngest of eleven children born to Samuel Ludwig and Elizabeth Redcah. She born in Bedford County Pennsylvania. The family relocated to Crawford County Ohio when Jane was young.


Married Henry Drinker Ellis Johnston on May 6, 1857 in Crawford County Ohio. Mother of Nora, Zua and Mary Agnes Johnston.


Married (2) Abraham Monnett of Marion County Ohio, 1877. No children.


After Abraham Monnett's death, she lived in their home, Rose Ridge in Bucyrus until her death in 1913.

This monument marks the burial lot of Jane L. Johnston Monnett. And it is also a cenotaph to H.D.E.(Henry Drinker Ellis) Johnston, as he is buried at Kirkpatrick Cemetery, Kirkpatrick, Marion, Ohio. Abraham (Abram) Monnett is buried at Monnett Chapel with his first wife.

Both Johnson, and "Abram" Monnett's names appear to help construct a narrative for Jane L. Monnett and her daughters in explaining their married surnames and relationships.
