Ida Hamilton
Ida Anne Hamilton, 80, Route 3, died Friday at Sunny Valley Sanitarium, Myra Road and NE C St., College Place.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Waitsburg City Cemetery with chaplain L.E. Cousins and the Rev. Vernon Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Waitsburg City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hamilton was born November 1, 1895 in Goldendale, Wash., the daughter of Elmer and Ida Ruth Hinshaw. She had lived in Walla Walla since 1947, moving from Waitsburg where she had lived since 1928.
Mrs. Hamilton and her husband, Walter T. Hamilton, who died in 1956, owned and managed Hamilton's Department Store in Waitsburg from 1928 to 1938, and then Hamilton's Electric Co. until 1947. She and her husband retired then and moved to Walla Walla where they built and managed the Birch Street Medical Clinic for 10 years.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Goldendale, Waitsburg Chapter 9, Order of the Eastern Star; Waitsburg Temple 68, Pythian Sisters and American Legion Auxiliary of Waitsburg and of Walla Walla.
Mrs. Hamilton is survived by a daughter, Joan Stonecipher of Waitsburg; two sisters, Wilma Spalding and Cora Richardson, both of Goldendale, Wash. and two brothers, Elden E. Hinshaw, of Des Moines, Wash. and Kenneth Hinshaw of Goldendale, Wash. and three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The remains will lie in state at the Christian Church in Waitsburg from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. for those wishing to pay their respects.
