"To All who it may Concern:
Know ye, That William Lein a Private of Captain Theodore Grays Company (K) 17th Regiment of Connecticut Infantry VOLUNTEERS, who was enrolled on the nineteeth day of August one thousand eighteen hundred and sixty-two to serve three years or during the war, is hereby DISCHARGED from the service of the United States this nineteenth day of July 1865, at Hilton Head, S.C. by reason of GB Na Gh War Dept. May 15th, 1865 (No onjection to his being re-enlisted is known to exist")
Said William Lein was born in Germany in the State (Left blank) is nineteen years of age, five feet nine inches high, fair completion, blue eyes, dark hair, and by occupation, when enrolled a Shoemaker.
Given at Hilton Head, S.C. this nineteenth day of July 1865.

Funeral services for William Lein, Civil war veteran, who died Saturday, in the Soldiers Home in Noroton Heights
after a long illness will be held this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Reid Memorial Chapel Mountain Grove Cemetery.
Rev. Herman O. Wiemer, pastor of the German Reform Church,
conducted,the services.
A delegation from Munstarberg lodge of odd Fellows attended.
Burial will be in Mountain Grove Cemetery.
