After attending Kishwaukee Community College in Illinois, he would make his big league debut on September 12, 1993 with Philadelphia. He was briefly a part of the Phillies team that won the National League pennant that year. He enjoyed his most successful season in 1995 with the Cubs, when he recorded 12 wins in 30 appearances. In 100 career games, Foster won 32 and lost 30 with a 4.86 lifetime ERA.
