US Congressman. He was born in Aberdeen, Mississippi, graduated from the University of Georgia Law School in 1875 and became an attorney in Navasota, Texas. He moved to Corsicana in 1878 and served as Navarro County Prosecutor from 1880 to 1884, District Attorney of the Texas thirteenth judicial district from 1884 to1888, and District Judge from 1888 to 1896. In 1906 he was elected to the US House of Representatives as a Democrat and served eight terms, 1907 to 1923. From 1911 to 1919 he was Chairman of the House Committee on Expenditures in the Department of the Navy. Hardy did not run for reelection in 1922 and practiced law until his death in Corsicana.
