Reuben Edward Anderson, 88, of Monticello died January 14, 1997 at the Piatt County Nursing Home. Services were held January 18 at Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello with burial in Monticello cemetery.

Mr. Anderson was born October 21, 1908 in Piatt County, s/o Wilson Ellsworth and Nancy Adkins Anderson. He married Mary Rex (1907=2005) in Monticello on November 16, 1928. She survives along with sons: Dwight of Mountain View WY; and Owen E. of Monticello; daughter, Virginia Gose of Champaign; three granddaughters; two great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Bessie Sass of Champaign. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Mr. Anderson was a retired farmer. He was a member of Monticello Methodist Church and past president and member of Piatt County Farm Bureau. He was also a charter member of Haneline Club; member of Monticello Lions Club; a 4-H leader and board member of Monticello community schools.
