Musician. A native of Joliette, Quebec, Fréchette began playing piano as a child and at the age of nine, he started playing the trumpet for the Sénateurs de Joliette. In 1981, he formed his own jazz band called the Fréchette ad lib, which quickly became a fixture in the Montreal jazz scene. In 1987, he was asked by André Marchand, lead singer of the legendary Quebec folk group La Bottine Souriante, for help in recording the group's latest album. A year later, Fréchette joined La Bottine Souriante as a pianist and piano accordionist. With his jazz influence, he would help to change the group's musical style away from traditional folk and as a result, their 1988 album "Je voudrais changer d'chapeau" received a Juno Award. He continued to perform with the group until 2000.
