Before his involvement in politics, he held the roles of president and vice-coordinator within District Seven of the Lions Club. Additionally, he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce of Tres Valles, Veracruz, and was a counselor of the Chamber of Commerce of Veracruz. Furthermore, he was recognized as the proprietor of the Lores chain of stores. Reyes López's political journey commenced with his election as municipal president by Morena in Tres Valles, Veracruz, during the period spanning from 2001 to 2004. Subsequently, he assumed the role of substitute local deputy in the LX Legislature of the Congress of Veracruz for Morena, from 2004 to 2007. During the LXIV Legislature of the Congress of the Union of Mexico, he represented District 17 of Veracruz as a Federal Deputy from August 29, 2018, to August 31, 2021. Throughout this tenure, he held the position of Secretary of the Committee on Hydraulic Resources, Drinking Water, and Sanitation, and was a member of the Committees on Governance and Population, as well as Infrastructure. He was reelected as Deputy for the LXV Legislature of the Congress of the Union of Mexico, representing the same district, serving from August 29, 2021, until his passing on March 22, 2024. Throughout this term, he resumed his role as Secretary of the Committee on Hydraulic Resources, Drinking Water, and Sanitation, and was a member of the Committees on Rural Development and Conservation, Agriculture, and Food Self-Sufficiency; Labor and Social Security; and Culture and Cinematography.
