Professional Football Player. For three seasons (1972, and 1974 to 1974), he played at the wide receiver position in the National Football League with the San Francisco 49ers. Born Terry Paul Beasley, he attended Percy Julian High School in Alabama, prior to enrolling at Auburn where he played collegiate football. While with the Tigers, he distinguished himself when he achieved unanimous All-American honors (1971), and tied a 20.2 yards per catch NCAA record. In addition, he received consensus All-Conference recognition twice. Selected as the 19th pick by the San Francisco 49ers during the 1st round of the 1972 NFL Draft, he totaled 29 career regular season games. He was inducted into the National College Football Hall of Fame in 2002, and his uniform number 88 was retired by Auburn.
