Comedian, Actor. Remembered for his Italian heritage-based humor, he started out as a standup comedian, and moved on to TV, in addition to record albums and sporadic movie roles. Born Pasquale Caputo, his father was a bricklayer. Cooper got his start at local events and gradually moved on to performing standup at prominent venues, including the Copacabana in New York and later Las Vegas and Atlantic City. During the 1960s, he made his impact on television with appearances on "The Jackie Gleason Show," "The Dean Martin Show," and multiple appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson." In addition, over the next two decades, he was an opening act for Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sammy Davis Jr., and Jerry Lewis. He recorded several comedy albums, which include "Spaghetti Sauce and Other Delights" (1966). In later years, Cooper was associated with radio personality Howard Stern and had acting roles in the TV programs "L.A. Law" and "Seinfeld," in addition to the motion picture "Analyze This" (1999) and the sequel "Analyze That" (2002).
