Physician and politician. Baranski served as the Polish Minister of Health and Social Welfare from 1956 to 1961. He graduated from the University of Kiev, specializing in pediatrics, in 1917. He was then drafted into the Russian Army before joining the Polish Army, where he served as a military doctor until 1922. Baranski worked at the Children's Clinic of the University of Warsaw until 1950, was a member of the State Health Council and vice-president of the Scientific Medical Society, taught as a professor at the Medical Academy in Warsaw, and headed the National Institute of Mother and Child. Among his honors were the Silver Cross of Merit, Golden Cross of Merit, and Medal of the 10th Anniversary of People's Poland.
