Retired SGM Larry Alderman, 80, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022. He was born in Bartley, WV, and was the son of the late Carper Alderman and Mary Baird Alderman.
Larry graduated from Big Creek High School, War, WV, in 1961 and began his 26-year military career. He served in combat in the Vietnam War in the United States Army receiving numerous medals to include the Bronze Star and Air Medal. Larry was a Parachute Rigger, 82nd Airborne, and enjoyed doing private jumps with friends into football stadiums and special events. He was a kind, humble man who enjoyed many activities. Larry was very competitive whether he was playing with a 2-year-old or a 92-year-old. He played to win. He enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, softball, volleyball, and golf. He loved spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, traveling, and making chocolate fudge. Larry was a jack of all trades and could fix or build anything. He could be seen on any given day helping and assisting neighbors and friends. Larry also prided himself on his gardening skills and loved his dog, Bear.

Larry is survived by his wife, daughters, step-sons, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

A graveside memorial service (TBA) will take place at the Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Amelia, VA.
