Companion of royalty. Courtesy name Huixin, also known as Consort Shu, was one of the Imperial consorts of the last emperor of the Qing Dynasty, Puyi. She was born into the Mongolian Erdet clan which was of the Manchu Bordered Yellow Banner of the Qing Dynasty banner system. In 1921 she was chosen to be one of the candidates to be the Empress consort and was personally chosen by Puyi to be the Empress but was denied after a disagreement between the Empress dowagers, mainly because they considered her to be ugly and of a lesser clan then their preferred candidate, Wanrong, so she became an imperial consort instead. She was generally unhappy while being married to Puyi due to his preference for Wanrong and Wanrong's distaste of her. In 1931 she filed for divorce after she had run away due to her unhappiness and boredom in her marriage. She became a schoolteacher for the Peiping Private Sicun Primary and Middle School in Beijing and married another man named Liu Zhendong in 1947. She died in 1953 after living in poverty for 10 years with only her husband by her side. She was buried outside what was known as the Andingmen gate in Beijing which today has since been demolished.
