Uruguayan Statesman. He served as the 29th President of Uruguay from March 1, 1947 to August 2, 1947. He became active in the Uruguayan Colorado Party as a young man and during the first part of the 20th Century, he served as Intendent of Canelones. Later, in his life, he served both as President of the Senate and in the administration of President Juan Jose de Amezaga. In March of 1947, he became president of Uruguay and served until August of that year, when he passed away in office.
