"Mrs. Elizabeth Chappell, one of the oldest citizens of Louisville, died yesterday afternoon, aged eight-five years. Mrs. Chappell was born in Switzerland in 1808. She came to Philadelphia when a child seven years of age, and removed to Louisville in 1830. She was married to Archibald Chappell in 1831 [sic] in the house still standing on the southeast corner of Third and Walnut streets. She was one of the oldest Methodists, having been connected with that denomination for seventy years. For a long time past she has held her membership at the Walnut-street M. E. church South. Her husband died in 1890 [sic]. She leaves two children, M. B. and George M. [sic] Chappell. Due notice of the funeral will be given."
