He had the distinction of being on the Miami Dolphins roster during their inaugural season (1966), as he shared quarterbacking duties with Dick Woods and George Wilson. Stofa also earned another notable distinction when he was dealt to the Cincinnati Bengals in late 1967, thus becoming the first player in the franchise's history. Additionally, he quarterbacked the first win in Cincinnati Bengals history. After retiring from football, he worked in the insurance industry.
