Professional Football Player. For five-seasons (1966 to 1970), he played at the quarterback position in the American and National Football Leagues with the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals. Born John Carl Stofa, he attended Bishop McCort High School in Pennsylvania and played collegiate football at the University of Buffalo. Signed as a non-drafted player, he totaled 27-career regular season games. He had the distinction of being on the Miami Dolphins roster during their inaugural season (1966), as he shared quarterbacking duties with Dick Woods and George Wilson. Stofa also earned another notable distinction when he was dealt to the Cincinnati Bengals in late 1967, thus becoming the first player in the franchise's history. Additionally, he quarterbacked the first win in Cincinnati Bengals history. After retiring from football, he worked in the insurance industry.
