George G. Poindexter Passes Monday in Butte Hospital After Long Illness

George Gentry Poindexter, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Poindexter, one of the founding families of the Poindexter & Orr ranch here, died at a Butte hospital Monday morning following a long illness. He had been an invalid for the past ten years.

Born in the Beaverhead valley 52 years ago, Mr. Poindexter spent the major portion of his life in this community, attending the local schools. He was associated from some time with the P. & O. ranch in the livestock business but for about eight years has made his home in Butte.

He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. W. V. Kingsbury of Butte and Mrs. Frank H. Cooney of Helena, a brother, P. W. Poindexter of Stevensville, a brother-in-law, Governor F. H. Cooney and several cousins and other relatives here.

The body was brought to Dillon Tuesday and the funeral was held that afternoon from St. James Episcopal church, the Rev. H. N. Tragitt officiating, interment being made in the family plot in Mountain View cemetery.
