Olympic Gold Medalist. Italian racing cyclist. As an amateur he distinguished himself with important wins both in road and track races. He started racing very young, after the First World War, obtaining good placings especially at the Giro di Lombardia where for three consecutive years from 1916 to 1918; he placed 10th and twice 11th respectively. In 1919 he made his first big success in the Bernocchi Cup. In 1920, at the Antwerp Olympics, beating Great Britain and South Africa, he won the team pursuit race with his teammates Giorgetti, Magnani and Carli, winning Olympic gold. Turned pro in 1921 he ran until 1928.
