He was married about 1915 to Carrie Lee Hill (1896–1981).
A minister living at 702 28th Avenue North in Nashville, Tennessee, Henry was 75 years old and married when he had a cerebral thrombosis and died on July 7, 1963 at Hubbard Hospital, where he had been for several weeks.
Survivors included his widow Carrie L Gorden, daughters Mrs Rosetta D Selby at Nashville, and Mrs Frances B Haith in Kansas City, Missouri, sons Henry W Gorden of Nashville and William C Gorden in McComb, Mississippi, brother Edward L Gorden of Starksville, Mississippi, five grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Mrs Ovallie Gorden of Nashville, Mrs Vivian Gorden at McComb, sons-in-law H H Selby in Nashville and Dr W F Haith of Kansas City, brother-in-law Reverend William Hill in Nashville and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held on July 10th at Gordon Memorial Methodist Church, and burial was in Hills of Calvary Memorial Park, Nashville.
