Philanthropist. American heiress, rancher, horse breeder, businesswoman, and art collector. She was the great-granddaughter of the famed Texas rancher, landowner, and oilman, Samuel "Burk" Burnett. She inherited four ranches in West Texas totaling 275,000 acres and served as President of Burnett Ranches. It is the location of the historic 6666 Ranch. Marion was the President and Trustee of the Anne Burnett and Charles D. Tandy Foundation. The foundation was thereafter renamed the Burnett Foundation.She founded the Georgia O'Keeffe Museum in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2013, she donated $57 million to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth for the construction of a new emergency department. She served on the boards of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City, the Kimbell Art Museum, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. In 2009, she was named to the Forbes 400, with an estimated net worth of $1.1 billion. Her will stated that when she died, all of her ranching operations would be auctioned off. Taylor Sheridan, a director, paid $341.7 million for the family's 6666 Ranch Estate in 2021.
