Actor. He is best remembered for his role as 'Pastor Peder Svane' in the silent film, "Afgrunden" (1910, AKA "The Woman Always Pay and "The Abyss"). The film which was produced by Hjalmar Davidsen and directed by Urban Gad featured actress Asta Nielsen in her debut role as 'Magda Vang.' Born Hans Peter Neergaard Jacobsen in Copenhagen, Denmark, on July 29, 1865, he was an actor in theater before turning to film. He began his career at the Aarhus Theater in Aarhus, Denmark, in 1900, and appeared in several productions for the company until 1903. He also appeared at the famed Casino Theater in Copenhagen, Denmark, for many years. He made his film debut in directors Urban Gad and Alexander Christensen's war drama, "En rekrut fra 64" in 1910. Besides, "En rekrut fra 64" (1910), his many other film credits include, "Gøglerblod" (1911), "Kærlighed gør stærk" (1913) and "Fangen paa Zora" (1915). During the 1920s, he returned to the theater and appeared at the National Theater in Copenhagen, Denmark, in one of his most famous roles, as 'Napoleon's doorman' in "Madame Sans-Gene" (1925). He passed away a year later in his native Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 18, 1926, at the age of 60, and he was buried in the Vestre Kirkegard in Copenhagen, Denmark, where several other famous Danish personalities are also laid to rest.
