Author. He was a popular Norwegian novelist, poet, and writer of short stories. Born in Oslo, Norway, on July 15, 1924, he made his literary debut with the short story collection, "Unge netter" in 1950. During the 1960s, he published two works of poetry, "60-tallsballade" and "Vuggevise for aftenlandet." His many other works include, "Før vingene bærer" (1952), "Vandreren" (1955), "Til minne om en klode" (1955), "Maktesløs forkynnelse – andaktsbok" (1959), "Et ildens barn" (1960), "Fordi" (1963), "Fra de nakne ordene" (1965), "Den innerste esken – roman" (1966), "Beatrice – dikt" (1967), "Franceska : En prosafabel fra vår egen tid" (1968), "Hans Eksellense hadde tre sønner – roman" (1969), and "Logos" (1972). In 1960, he was awarded the prestigious Gylendal's Endowment Literature Prize. His final work, "Fra det dype: Huspostill for 70-tallet," was published in 1973. He passed away that same year in his native Oslo, Norway, on November 24, 1973, at the age of 49, and he was buried in the Møllendal Church Cemetery in Bergen, Norway, where several other famous Norwegian personalities are also laid to rest.
