Richard "Dick" Lupkes, 82, Bordentown, passed peacefully on October 29, 2021, listening to his favorite country music and stories told by his family about their lives together. Dick to those who knew him well, but Pop to his beloved grandchildren, was born on December 26, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and raised in Wheaton, Minnesota. Dick possessed a great sense of humor, quick wit, and the ability to make someone laugh without even trying.
Dick was a veteran of the United States Navy, stationed at Norfolk, Virginia on U.S.S. Shadwell (LSD 15). After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Dick worked at Richcrete Concrete, after which he soon began a career as an ironworker until he retired from Local Union No. 68, Hamilton, NJ. He was a board member for the Bordenshire Homeowners Association for many years, also serving a board member for the Bordentown Cemetery Association. Dick enjoyed cross-country traveling and cruising at sea with the love of his life, Barbara, "tinkering," and working on crossword puzzles, and especially loved freshwater fishing. He cherished the time he spent with his family, typically with a video camera in his hand capturing every smile. His unconditional love, understanding, wisdom, kindness, and never-ending support will be missed by all he touched.

Predeceased by his parents, Ole and Caroline Berg Lupkes, his brother and sister-in-law Stephen and Gloria Lupkes, and his brother-in-law Harry Knese, his granddaughter Abriella Hartmann, he is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara Lupkes, his daughters and son-in-laws, Virginia and Vincent Civale, and Karen and Brian Hartmann; his grandchildren Felicia and Anthony (Nicole) Carsella, Alexandra (Jordan), Ava (Jeff), Alston (Connie), and Addison Hartmann, his great grandchildren Andrew, Briana, Alivia, Benson, Lucas, and Antonia; and his sister Diane Knese; his brothers and sister-in-laws, James and Luella Lupkes, Ralph and Diane Lupkes, and Christopher and Jean Lupkes; his three beloved aunts, Merlita Lupkes, Irene Kaul and Frances Borshein, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, November 3, from 10 to 12 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Funeral Services will be at 12 pm, internment will follow in Bordentown Cemetery.
