Politician. Bob Semple was Minister of Public works for New Zealand's first Labour government from 1935 to 1941. He has become known outside of New Zealand for his tank named the 'Bob Semple Tank,' which was built cheaply as a means to protect New Zealand from a Japanese invasion during the Second World War.
