Singer. She was the only other singer to be given the title of Biduanita Negara, after Saloma. She was raised in a village in Johor Bahru, and attended SMK Sultan Ismail. She was so popular during her childhood, she was often invited to sing at school functions. Her singing career began when she entered the "Bintang RTS" competition in 1968 held by Radio Television Singapore with the song "Tiga Malam". In 1969, she joined EMI Records, and released her first album titled "Seri Dewi Malam" in 1970. In 1976 , she sang a duet song with Indonesian singer Broery, titled "Seiring Dan Sejalan", which was popular in Malaysia and Indonesia. In 2003, she held a concert at the Istana Budaya titled "Konsert Simfoni Ghazal Bersama Datuk Sharifah Aini", which was also attended by Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. In that same year, she was given the title of Datuk. In her peak, she was the first Malaysian artist to be called a Superstar. She died of a lung infection in 2014. Throughout her career, she produced more than 93 albums.
