My beloved grandmother, who helped to raise me. She was one of the best people I ever knew and one of my closest confidants. She was married twice, had five children (two of whom she would outlive), 20 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
We shared so many memories and she gave me so much love, respect, courage and discipline that no one else could. She and my belated paternal grandfather, Robert (whom we all called Daddy Bob) were the grandparents among our many biological, step and great-grandparents that we were blessed to have and the ones we saw the most in our childhood. She and I had some surprising things in common, a love of nature, an adoration of Christmas to the point of going out of our way to decorate our homes for the holiday, our cautious ways where neither of us wouldn't let in company without them calling us first and, most shockingly, we both followed "Coronation Street" and used to watch it on CBC every evening.
She is still dearly missed eight years after her passing.
