Prime Minister of Iran. A member of Iran's People's Party and later, the Resurgence Party, he served as prime minister from 19 July 1962 to 7 March 1964. Prior to becoming prime minister he was appointed governor of Sistan and Baluchistan provinces in 1945. At the age of 29, he became Iran's Minister of Agriculture. In 1953, he helped organize the coup that overthrew Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh. He served as Minister of Interior from 7 April 1955 to 3 April 1957 He was then made made the director of the Pahlavi Foundation and prime minister. He served as the The Shah's inspector of all universities and was chairman and board member of many including the Pahlavi University where he served as president He is best remembered for his aggressive anticorruption campaign. After leaving his post as prime minister, he was appointed Minister of Royal Court serving from 1 February 1967 to 7 August 1977. He was diagnosed with cancer in the late 1960s and died at New York University Hospital.
