Queen Consort of Aturias. Munia of Álava was queen consort of Asturias by her marriage to Fruela I of Asturias and mother of Alfonso II of Asturias. King Fruela I brought Munia, then a teenager, from an expedition through Alava lands and La Bureba to make her his wife and queen, while strengthening relations with Álava. After the death of Fruela I in 768, Munia, fearing for the lives of her children, took refuge with them in the monastery of Samos.
