Mexican Journalist, Narrator and Essayist. During most of his life he wrote for various newspapers in the country, achieving national recognition. In the early 1960s, he became rector of the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL), resigning a few years later for political reasons. Like his parents, José Alvarado was a teacher. He taught History of Philosophy at the San Ildefonso Preparatory School (National Preparatory School), where he taught for 20 years. He was also a professor at the Universities of Nuevo León and Michoacán. He collaborated for years for the newspapers "El Nacional," "Excélsior," "El Día," "El Popular,"among others. He was an editorialist, editor, reporter, columnist, film chronicler, bullfighting chronicler, police reporter, war correspondent in the Middle East, and chronicler of various international congresses. He also collaborated for the magazines "Romance," "Siempre!," "Futuro," "U.O.," "Voz" and "Revista de la Universidad de México." In 1969, the Lebanese Center of Mexico awarded him the National Prize for Journalism. And in 1974, after his death, the Club de Periodistas de México also awarded him the National Journalism Award for his work in 1973. Among his published works are "Memorias de un espejo" (1953), "El personaje" (1955), "El retrato muerto" (1977), among others.
