Death or Dr Balfour. — This aged and worthy gentleman died at his residence The Turrett, High Street, on Monday, after a few weeks illness. Dr Balfour came to Leven during the cholera visitation in 1886, and did much by his skill and courage in restoring the health and confidence of a sorely distressed community. His remains were laid on Thursday in the new cemetery, being the first that has been buried there. The funeral was attended by large number of mourners, and as a mark of respect most if not all the shops on the line of route were closed on the melancholy occasion.
