Donald L. Carter of Fairfield Twp. passed away early Monday morning August 17, 2020 with his family by his side and under the care of Hospice. He had been in declining health for the past few years.

Born in Elmer, NJ April 20, 1936, he was the son of the late Hopewell and Lethia Coker Carter, and the long time companion of Bessie Bennett.

Donald grew up in the Salem County area and graduated from Woodstown High School and joined the United States Air Force where he proudly served from 1954 - 1958 until being honorably discharged. He then came back home and worked in the electrical appliance repair industry, something he loved to do. He worked for RCA, and also JWC Electronics in the old Hopewell Shopping Plaza until his retirement. He enjoyed hunting and Fishing in his younger years and he loved gardening, but mostly he loved time spent with his family and many friends thru the years. He was a big fan of NASCAR also.

Surviving him are his companion Bessie, his children David Hicks, John Bennett, Michelle Bennett Hymer, Daniel Bennett, Donna Carter, and Evelyn Marlette, his only sister, Evelyn Schroeder, and grandchildren, Richard Hymer Jr., Caroline Hymer, John D. Bennett, Daniel Bennett Jr., Liam Marlette, Weston Marlette, Adam Hicks, Courtney Hicks, Crystal Durham, Melody Giovennetti, Jared Hicks, and Deztiny Figueroa. He was predeceased besides his parents by two children, Patty Bowers and his infant son Charles, and three brothers, Leroy, Perry, and John Carter.

Family and friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Hopewell Twp. at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday August 22, 2020. Burial will follow the services with military honors. Social distancing and masks are required for those that attend.
