Eldest daughter of Alfred Shumway and Elizabeth "Betsy"Steward. Married Willard Moody 23rd December 1823 - 1st Congregational Church- (Regency style early 1800s church weddings were popular back in her day). Wedding took place Belchertown Massachusetts ( Record on file with the stone museum Belchertown Massachusetts and solemnized by the town clerk of Belchertown Massachusetts) She and her husband would most likely follow her parents from place to place such as living for a short time in Shaftsbury Vermont. 1830 cencus Shaftsbury Vermont 1840 Williamstown Massachusetts 1850 Williamstown, Massachusetts. 1850 Williamstown Massachusetts census also shows Nancy and Willard living right next door to her parents Alfred and Betsy. My 4th great grandma Nancy had 3 boys and 3 girls and is in the same burial plot as her daughter Jane Moody Ford And Willard Moody and brother George Alonzo Moody. She made a good life with her husband. She passed away from "old age" So, therefore when the deceased person has multiple underlying ailments and contributing factors, "natural causes" or "old age" is sufficiently accurate in that it recognizes the "ambiguity" of the cause of death. But I would like to think she passed away due to natural causes just like her husband did.Daughter of Alfred Shumway & Elizabeth Steward. Mother of Jane (m. Edwin Aaron Ford), Alonzo (George Alonzo), Seth, Willard Jr., Eliza Ann (m. Samuel Jewett) and Harriet M.(m. George Russell)
