Death certificate indicates Columbus, GA (Muscogee County) as birthplace but it is more likely he was born in nearby Stewart County where his parents resided just 6 months prior to his birth as well as in 1880. Due to the uncertainty, birthplace will be left above as Georgia.

Obituary (Dec 24, 1940, Arkansas Gazette) indicated Charles Lee Gordy (69) died Dec 23 at Little Rock; came to Little Rock in 1897; survived by wife Mrs Maybelle Breysacher Gordy, son Lee Gordy, daughter Louise Gordy, brother Fred Gordy.
