"Louis Silber was my paternal grandfather. He was born in Kishinev, Bessarabia (now spelled Chisinau, the capital of the newly independent Republic of Moldova). Emigrated to the US at an early age and married Dora Targovnik. They had 3 sons and 1 daughter: Moe, Beatrice, Abraham (my Dad), and Harry. He was a successful businessman and landlord. He died at a early due to complications from diabetes, which was not as managable then. Since Moe was married and moved away at the time of Louis' death, my Dad had to work to support his Mom, his older sister and younger brother (while still a teenager!)Although he died many years before I was born, they say Grandpa was good man, a devoted family man, honest and a pious Jew. If you are Jewish please say Kaddish for him."
