1937 - 2017
Gwendolyn Marquardson King, age 79, of Orem, Utah, passed away peacefully Friday, April 28, 2017, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. She was born May 18, 1937, in Richfield, Utah, to Max Stewart Marquardson and Utahna Morrey Marquardson. She married Norman Ellis King on June 19, 1956, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.
Gwen is remembered as a person with a special gift to love and serve others. She cared deeply for her children and grandchildren, spending time with them and being interested in their welfare. She served faithfully in Church callings, including Primary, Young Women and Relief Society. She shared her love of music with her children, teaching them to sing and play the piano. She competed in typing and office competitions in high school and taught her children to type. She participated in Toastmistress and won several competitions. She loved the gospel and enjoyed listening to the scriptures, General Conference talks and BYU devotionals. The lessons she taught both by word and example will continue to live on in the lives of those she knew. We will miss her but rejoice that she is free from the sufferings of this life.
Gwen is survived by her four children: David (Amy) King, of Lindon; Ronald (Janalee) King, of Orem; Russell (Shari) King, of Lehi; and Darrell King, of Provo; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters: Kaye (Ronald) Bradley, of Moroni; and Janice Marquardson, of Pleasant Grove; brother, Hal Marquardson, of Richfield; and former husband, Norman King, of Provo.
