Duke proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 until 1959. He attended Western Military Academy in Alton, IL from 1948-1953. He retired from the Illinois Department of Human Services. He was a past member of the Eagles Club #3587. He enjoyed collecting cuckoo clocks and steins and was an avid Illini Football and NASCAR fan.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his "brother from another mother," Patrick Eldredge.
He is survived by his very good friends, Michael Hudspeth of Springfield, Betty Jean Eldredge of Springfield; and several cousins.
Graveside Ceremony: 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Ashland Cemetery, Cemetery Road, Ashland, with Celebrant Judy Woerner officiating and military honors by the Department of Defense.
