STEINER

Marjorie Evelyn Steiner was born Jan. 28, 1918 at Junction City, Kan., to Charles Allen and Ada Mildred (Blackwood) Bowles. She passed away Feb. 26, 1993 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Centerville, Iowa, at the age of 75 years.

She attended school at Junction City, graduating in 1935.

Marjorie was united in marriage to Paul D. Steiner on Dec. 6, 1941. To this union a daughter, Paulette, and a son, who died at birth, were born. Before settling in Chariton, the couple lived and managed a jewelry store in Sutton, Neb. for eight years. They moved to Chariton in 1955.

While living in Chariton, Marjorie was very active in the Chariton United Methodist Church, the Aeolian Singers, various volunteer organizations as well as working at Steiner's Jewelry on the west side of the square.

She had spent the past year as a resident of the Long Term Care Center of St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Centerville.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son; brothers, Dr. Lester D. Bowles and Charles Allen Bowles, Jr. and her sister, Mrs. Walter H. Johns.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Paulette and husband Warren Sells of Centerville; her sister, Mrs. Hazel Avery of Wakefield, Kan., and two grandsons, Alan and Todd Sells.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, at the Fielding Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bissett officiating. Burial was in the Chariton Cemetery. Serving as bearers were Alan Sells, Todd Sells, Bob Ulrich, Joe Ruddell, Edwin Allen and Leland Wiren.
