Professional Football Player. For six seasons (1999 to 2003 and 2005), he played at the safety position in the National Football League with the Buffalo Bills and Atlanta Falcons. Born Keion Eric Carpenter, he attended Woodlawn High School in Baltimore where he distinguished himself on both the football and basketball teams. He continued his athletic accomplishments on the collegiate level at Virginia Tech University. Signed as a non-drafted player by Buffalo, he totaled 83 career regular season games. In 2000, he produced a career-high 5 interceptions while with the Bills. He suffered two fractured vertebras during a game in 2003 which required spinal fusion surgery and forced him to miss the 2004 season. He returned to the football field in 2005 and recorded a career-high 43 tackles. After retiring from football, he involved himself in charitable causes and founded The Carpenter House in the Baltimore-area which provided education and sports mentorship for disadvantaged families. While on vacation with his family, he suffered severe head injuries after he slipped and fell. He lingered in a coma for one day before he died.
