Prime Minister of Iran. A member of Iran's Nationalist Party and later, the Democrat Party, he served as prime minister from April 3, 1957 to August 31, 1960. Prior to becoming prime minister he studied at Darolfonoon in Tehran and completed advanced studies in medicine in Paris in 1933. He was appointed chancellor of Tabriz University in 1950 and then Tehran University in 1954. In 1959 he became Iran's envoy to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization. He then taught at Sorbonne for a while and became a member of the French Académie Nationale de Médecine. He served as the minister of health, minister of culture , minister of transportation and interior minister. He also served as the governor of East Azarbaijan province. He is best remembered as a top executive in Iran's National Oil Company and close aide to the Shah.
