Heart disease Fatal to Businessman and church Leader
Salt Lake City, Feb. 9 – John F. Bennett, 72, prominent Utah businessman and Latter Day-saints church official, died in a hospital here today of heart disease.
Bennett was vice president of the ZCMI , a director of the Utah Oil company, president of the Bennett Glass and Paint Co., and president of the Blue Bird Candy company of Logan.
Among companies which he aided in developing were the Saltair Railroad company, Saltair Beach company.
He was widely known through Utah as a banker. He was a director of three Salt Lake City banks and until 1934 was for many years vice president of the Farmers' and Merchants' bank of Provo.
Bennett had been treasurer of the Deseret Sunday School union for the past 30 years and a member of the union board for 40 years. He was a member of the Mormon church auditing committee.
His survivors are all residents of Salt Lake City.
