Actor, Film Director. He was an Austrian actor in film, and on stage, during the silent film era. He will be best remembered for playing the role of 'Junger König' in the film, "Der König amüsiert sich" (1918). The film which was directed by Jacob Fleck and Luise Fleck, which was based on the novel by Victor Hugo, also starred Hermann Benke, Liane Haid, Karl Ehmann, Eduard Sekler, Eugenie Bernay, and Anka Sandro. He was born in Vienna, Austria, on November 26, 1882. He was educated locally and later attended the prestigious Theatre School Arnau in Vienna, Austria, and made his actual stage debut at the Raimund Theatre in Vienna, Austria, in 1901. and also appeared on the stage at the Deutsches Volkstheater in Vienna, Austria, in 1906. One of is more famous roles was playing the Austrian composer, organist, and music theorist 'Anton Bruckner' in the stage production of the play, "Der Musikant Gottes" (AKA "The Musician Of God"). The play was a collaboration between Ernst Decsey (1870 – 1941), an Austrian author and music critic, and a pupil of the composer, and Victor Léons (1858 – 1940), an Austrian librettist and author. The play received its first performance in Vienna, Austria, in 1926 and became a box-office hit for about a year. The play was rarely staged outside of Austria, perhaps due to its use of Upper Austrian slang. During this time he eventually went on and made the transition to appearing in films. He made his actual film debut playing the role of 'Gregor Stark' in the film, "Auf der Höhe" (1916). The film which was directed by and written for the screen by Jacob Fleck and Luise Fleck, also starred Liane Haid, Polly Janisch, Hermann Benke, Walter Huber, Max Neufeld, and Hubert Marischka. He passed away in Vienna, Austria, on February 24, 1941, at the age of 59, and he was buried in the Hietzing Friedhof in Vienna, Austria. His son Peter Klitsch also became a well-known artist.
