BUFFALO, N.Y. — Sister Ceceile Ferland, SSJ, a teacher and principal for almost 50 years in the Buffalo, N.Y. area, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence in Clarance, N.Y. She was 90.
She was born Bibiana Ferland in Highgate, Vt. on Feb. 16, 1925 to the late Leonard and Marie Anna (Bolodeau) Ferland. She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph Convent in Buffalo, N.Y. in April 1945 and pronounced her final vows in Aug. 1950. She celebrated her 70th year of religious life this year.
She is survived by siblings and spouses, Clement and Gloria Ferland and Cecile and Henry Laroche of Highgate and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by Fabien and Rita Ferland, Theresa and John D. Gale, Father Martin (Felix) Ferland and Marguerite and Normand Larose.
A Mass of Resurrection was celebrated by Rev. Beiter on Saturday, Aug. 8 at the Residence with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Buffalo, N.Y.
