Obituary:
HOPEWELL JUNCTION – Jean Altizio, 90, died on Monday, January 25, 2016 at the Waterview Hills Nursing Center in Purdys. She previously lived in Hyde Park, Greenville, Mahopac, Valhalla and the Bronx.
Born in the Bronx on October 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rose (Vaccaro) Pizzo. On March 3, 1946 in the Bronx, Jean married the love of her life, Patrick R. Altizio who predeceased her in 1991. She had worked as a dental assistant, hospital admissions clerk, and later as a librarian in Greenville and Cairo. Along with her husband Patrick, Jean founded the Higher Ground Christian Center in Greenville in 1982.
Jean is survived by her sons and their wives, Leonard and Barbara Altizio of White Plains, Kenneth and Lynn Altizio of Mahopac, and Thomas and Janice Altizio of Hopewell Junction; her grandchildren, Daniel and Rachel Altizio; her brother, Raymond Pizzo; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10 am – 12 pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction with the funeral service at 11:30 am. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
